It was important for us to demonstrate our respect through collaboration and the creation of an indigenous perspective of the Clean Ocean Foundation ethos.

Lionel is a Gunditjmara Kirrae Wurrung - Bunjalung Man. This means he is both a fresh water and salt water man.

Lionel says - “​As a first nations people we look at water as a living being. We acknowledge and respect water as it is a living thing”, that “If you abuse it, it will get sick, disappear or die. We have a responsibility to care for country, this most definitely means caring for our water and waterways.”

Wah is the protector of the waterways and knowledge, this is a view from the story of where the land meets and intercepts with rivers and the sea.
